Air conditioning: keeping us cool but making the planet hotter

Modern apartment buildings often rely on air conditioners.

Around two billion air conditioners are currently in use across the globe and it's estimated they account for more than ten per cent of global electricity demand. 

There’s also a problem with the coolants they use.

So, if finding better ways to cool our homes and offices is an imperative, what are the alternatives?.
