Most children read about enchanted forests in fairy tales, but these students get to experience it first-hand

Gooburrum State School, near Bundaberg, is home to a 70-year-old pine forest. Long grass corridors through the tall trees make it easy for children to play or take lessons, becoming adventurers, explorers and scientists. The students mourned for 400 trees lost to drought in recent years, and cried when they were removed. Now they get to experience their magical forest’s regeneration as they plant and take care of hundreds of new trees.
